Our Story

8:00 pm, Friday, November 21, 2025

Join the Etobicoke Philharmonic on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Martingrove Collegiate Institute - 50 Winterton Drive, Etobicoke (map) - for Our Story.

Come celebrate Etobicoke with us in this special collaboration with the Etobicoke Historical Society, featuring the Local Vocals pop-up choir and Etobian composers.

Artefacts on display will include a cannon ball from the War of 1812, so of course we'll play Tchaikovsky's thrilling 1812 Overture.

The jaunty Log Drivers Waltz , performed by Local Vocals, sets an upbeat tone that Etobian composer Gary Kulesha continues with his joyful Celebration Overture .

Did you know the world-famous pianist and composer Oscar Peterson was a Mimico resident? Hear his Hymn to Freedom, which inspired our full 'docu-concert' coming February 1

We also perform Mozart’s Paris Symphony (No. 31) and consider how young we are: This work was captivating Europe when Etobicoke was still Adobigok, nearly a decade before the Toronto Purchase from the Mississaugas of New Credit First Nation.
