Charlotte Thorpe Memorial Fund

Charlotte Thorpe 1994–2016

The Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra is honouring the life of our Youth Scholar, Charlotte Thorpe, with a Memorial Scholarship. Donations will be used to provide talented young string players with the opportunity to gain orchestral experience, professional mentorship and some financial assistance to support their music studies.

Charlotte Thorpe began playing the viola at age 10 at John G. Althouse Middle School and took to it immediately. Throughout high school, she played with the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra and went on a tour of British Columbia with them in 2012. Charlotte attended Music at Port Milford for four summers expanding her musical skills. She also formed her own string quartet called The Sesame String Quartet with friends and has played at numerous venues including The Old Mill.

We were fortunate to have Charlotte in the EPO viola section for two years, and as an EPO Scholarship winner for the 2015-2016 season. We are proud to honour Charlotte with the creation of the Charlotte Thorpe Memorial Scholarship. Contributions will provide a yearly scholarship to talented young string musicians in the community to help further their studies and musical experiences.
