Guest Artist: Joel Quarrington, Double Bass
Join the Etobicoke Philharmonic on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Martingrove Collegiate Institute - 50 Winterton Drive, Etobicoke (map) - for Dramatic Metamorphosis.
Immerse yourself in the sublime works one of the greatest Romantic era composers: Tchaikovsky.
His Symphony No. 5 is full of sweeping melodies , dramatic contrasts and a recurring “fate” theme. You’ll sense both strength and vulnerability throughout, as the struggle with destiny eventually resolves from darkness to triumph.
By contrast, the Rococo Variations for cello are light, airy, elegant and simply charming. Even if you’re familiar with this piece, you may well be hearing it for the first time on double bass played by superstar Joel Quarrington.
Speaking of first times: don’t miss the premiere performance of our newly announced 2025/26 Young Composer Competition winner!
