Fireworks of Sound

8:00 pm, Friday, November 25, 2022

Guest Artist: Kara Huber, Piano

Join the Etobicoke Philharmonic on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Martingrove Collegiate Institute - 50 Winterton Drive, Etobicoke (map) - for Fireworks of Sound.

Kulesha’s dramatic “Fireworks and Processional” literally immerses you in sound when this concert begins, with strings on stage while brass approach from behind. “Dramatic” is also an apt descriptor for Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 2” , particularly in the hands of accomplished guest soloist, Kara Huber.

Louise Farrenc was quite the ‘firecracker’ in her day, defying the assumption that only males could be composers with her “Symphony No. 2 in D major”.
Dr. Matthew Emery’s “Unanswered Letters,” our 2019/20 Young Composers Competition winner, will light up the night in its world premiere performance.

Listen to Matthew and Mark explore the opening of Louise Farrenc's piece in our latest podcast.
