Summer Winds

As soon as the weather allowed, the EPO principal woodwind players came together for backyard rehearsals.

In July and August they performed one hour concerts in gazebos and courtyards of various Etobicoke retirement homes, with Music Director Matthew Jones pivoting to new roles as Master of Ceremonies and special guest recorder player.

Residents were treated to selections written for wind quintet as well as arrangements of orchestral works by flutist Lauren Yeomans.

Violin and Oboe Duo

Concertmaster Mark Whale and principal oboe Cristina Sewerin were delighted to return to Tapestry retirement home in early September with an eclectic program of duets and solo works for violin and oboe. Breezy conditions did not dampen spirits and it was EPO’s pleasure this summer to continue bringing wonderful music safely to our audiences!

Beethoven Unmasked

Friday, October 23, 2020

You’ve never seen our EPO musicians in these ensembles and settings before!

In this LIVEstreamed online musical journey, Music Director Matthew Jones and Concertmaster Mark Whale will celebrate Beethoven’s 250th birthday by exploring his music as part of a centuries-long conversation starting with Bach.

Enjoy our full orchestra plus smaller string and wind ensembles, including performance of an original arrangement for woodwind quintet by principal flutist, Lauren Yeomans.

Please plan to stay on after for a post-concert Zoom chat with our hosts and musicians.

Music to Tell a Story

Friday, December 18, 2020

The Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra is delighted to safely celebrate the holiday season with you, your family and your friends.

Join your hosts Music Director, Matthew Jones and Concert Leader, Mark Whale for an online event to bring us all together, whether from afar or from across the street.

Featuring music performed by your favourite Etobicoke Philharmonic musicians, each selection tells a tale - perhaps a Christmas story, or a personal journey – that is sure to make you smile as you reflect on warm memories from the pages of your own life story.

Given our new virtual venue, this year we expect 100% full participation for the carol sing-along; no need to be shy when singing at home!

We hope you will stay on for a “lobby-like” post-concert Zoom meeting and gather with the musicians and other audience members to toast the season.

We miss seeing you!
