Allison Cecilia Arends
Soprano Allison Cecilia Arends is quickly making her mark as a versatile singer whose "voice is stunningly beautiful and [is used] with intelligence and great sensitivity" (Hnatyshyn Foundation). Highly sought-after as an interpreter of opera, new music, and concert repertoire, she is noted for having "charmed listeners with her lyrical upper tones" (Opera Canada).
She is a graduate of Calgary Opera's Emerging Artist Program, completed an M.Mus at the UofT Opera School and a B.Mus at UVic, and currently studies with W. Stephen Smith in Chicago. Recent performances of note included a tour to Germany and China with the Brahms Symphonie Orchester, concerts in Jamaica, Mozart's Mass in C minor with the Regina Philharmonic Chorus, Orff's Carmina Burana with the Regina Symphony Orchestra, a Gilbert and Sullivan gala with the Toronto Concert Orchestra, Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata with the Southern Ontario Lyric Opera, Lauretta in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi with the Cathedral Bluffs Orchestra, and the title role in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor and Adina in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore with Opera York. She has been engaged for recitals this season with the Waterdown Arts Festival, Neapolitan Connection, Heliconian Club, Arts and Letters Club, Latvian Society, and Dignitas International.Tweet
