What We Do
The EPO comprises approximately 60 musicians, professional and amateur adults, with professional section leaders and coaches. Orchestra members represent all walks of life, and include a number of advanced music students who bring their enthusiasm and growing talents to the organization. The group rehearses every Wednesday evening from September to May. The orchestra performs five main symphonic concerts and two family concerts per season. As well, it performs at many additional concerts during the year in such diverse locations as churches, shopping malls, hotels, etc.
Most EPO concerts feature a guest soloist with the orchestra. In past seasons, special guests have included Jacques Israelievitch, Robert Aitken, Jeremy Bell and Nancy Dahn. During at least one concert per season, members of the orchestra are highlighted.
The EPO also sponsors an annual Performance Scholarship to a graduating University of Toronto Faculty of Music student and the winner is featured in our December concert. A recent addition to our educational program is The Etobicoke Youth Strings for young musicians interested in performance in a string ensemble.
The EPO is a registered charitible organization administered by a Board of Directors who, with a core of volunteers are responsible for all aspects of orchestra management. If you are interested in joining as a volunteer or performer contact us at 416-239-5665 or email@example.com.
Performances And Instruction
Many of our musicians also provide music instruction and are available for performances as solos, duos, trios, quartets or small ensembles for weddings, anniversaries, business receptions as well as ensembles for churches and choirs. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for information.
